Underwriter Trainee

Argo Group International Holdings, Ltd. (NasdaqGS: AGII) is an international underwriter of specialty insurance and reinsurance products in areas of the property and casualty market.

To learn basic underwriting skills, including risk analysis, rating, pricing, and agency management. This position is a transitional role leading to advancement in an underwriting role for the successful candidate. .

• Under close supervision, underwrite accounts, including risk selection, pricing, and acceptance of new and renewal business.
• Managing relationships with appointed agents or assigned geographic region.
• Establish and monitoring products, policies and profitability as part of a team approach.
• Reviewing policies and endorsements to ensure policies clearly reflect the terms and conditions agreed upon.
• Participate in structured underwriting training events and programs.
• Travel to visit agents as part of agency management process.
• Other duties as assigned.

• College degree or equivalent business experience required.
• Previous insurance experience desired.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Detail oriented with initiative and the ability to work independently in a fast paced environment.
• Demonstrated analytical skills.
• Demonstrates strong client focus.
• Self-motivated and desire to learn the insurance industry.
• Ability to travel.
• Proficient in the use of computer programs, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
