Summary

Develop and implement decision support tools; perform quantitative analysis of a business situation, perform model prototyping, develop recommendations, and prepare written or oral presentation recommendations.

Responsibilities

Utilize quantitative techniques including forecasting, mathematical programming and other optimization techniques, simulation, stochastic modeling, data mining, and decision analysis to assess a business problem and make recommendations; establish and implement continuous process improvements to support excellent customer service delivery onboard trains, at ticket offices, with checked baggage, to provide general station support, and to maintain the facility in a state-of-good repair.

Ideal Candidate

Work Experience:

Employer will accept Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Engineering, Operations Research or related field; and 2 years of work experience in job offered or 2 years of work experience in a related occupation. Experience must include: Object-oriented programming experience in Java, C++, or C#; experience using commercially available optimization software: CPLEX, Xpress or GUROBI to develop large-scale optimization models such as LP, IP, MIP, and network flow programs relating to railroad optimization problems; experience working with simulation, data, statistics and relational database systems; SQL and SAS/or R. Any suitable combination of education, training, or experience is acceptable.
