AC Transit is currently recruiting for the position of Human Resources Administrator- Workplace Investigator/Mediator/Employee Relations. This position handles employee relations for the District, including conducting investigations, resolving conflict and advising employees, supervisors and managers on employee relations issues. This is an excellent opportunity to work in employee relations at one of the largest bus agencies in California.

Conducts investigations in response to employee complaints including affirmative action, equal employment opportunity, workplace violence, policy and ethics violations, DFEH complaints, etc.

Provides analysis, evaluation of findings and makes recommendations regarding the best course of action for effective resolution of concerns and complaints.

Prepares documentation and reports on investigations and complaint activity and actions taken.

Documents all counseling and consultation sessions held with staff and management.

Partners with employees and managers to provide resources and guidance when complex workplace issues arise.

Facilitates conflict resolution at the lowest level possible

Uses mediation techniques to facilitate communication and to further parties' understanding of different perspectives, and to guide parties toward mutual agreement.

Collaborates with Human Resources, Labor Relations, General Counsel, when necessary, on employee relations investigations, issues, concerns and actions

Maintains employee relations records as well as audit and maintain confidential files.

Generate reports for monitoring and assisting with performing employee relations trend analyses.

Works closely with other department units and other District staff to ensure compliance with all legal requirements, and the District's Affirmative Action plan.

Develops and implements policies, procedures, and goals for employee relations to ensure compliance with applicable District standards and legal requirements, alignment and collaboration with other department units, and adherence to overall department objectives.

May be assigned to additional special projects as needed

May direct the work of other employees, as needed and may act as back up for other Administrators

Performs related duties as required.
Education:
- Equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Organizational Development, Public Administration, or a related field, from an accredited college or university.
Experience:
-
Equivalent to at least five (5) years of increasingly responsible Analyst level experience in a Human Resources Department/EEO Affirmative action unit/employee relations area.

Experience in a supervisory or lead capacity is desired.

Post-graduate study in one of the above disciplines from an accredited college or university may be substituted for up to two (2) years of this experience.
Desired experience:
-
Extensive experience in conducting workplace investigations, conflict resolution and employee relations activities.

Mediation experience and working in a unionized environment is also highly desirable.
Additional Information
Physical Requirements:
- Must maintain the physical condition necessary to: (1) perform tasks in an office setting operating a personal computer, keyboards, and other peripheral equipment; and (2) possess physical mobility in order to travel between various District facilities. This position is required to have a flexible schedule and perform duties during various shifts, times and District locations.
